Owl Creek Road

Design by Alexa Druyanoff

Your all-terrain tires roll over
pothole pavement, and we lurch
through the valley. A string
of stoplights provides the brief
stillness I need to remember
the machinery of my body.

Out here, it is easy to forget yourself
in the immensity of meadow
and mountain. This is the place to be lost:
the July grass will grow a foot
and obscure my figure in full.
