Where did you go?
I pray,
On hands and knees.
Facades of piety.
Blurring until I’m perfectly obscured
To you and to me.
A desperate attempt.
Clinging to barren scraps.
Bits and pieces of the past.
.
I rewrite our history,
Erase our marks,
Tattoo tales.
Lying takes diligence.
It can’t be so wrong.
.
Ephemeral lies cloak me.
Wisps freed from my mouth.
An unsure nausea churns in me.
Wrapped in their comfort, however fleeting.
I know I’m too stubborn,
Too angry,
Too faulted.
.
I like it this way.
A pseudo-mummification, temporary.
I can only pray I’m one day preserved,
Preserved in this way.
.
This epoch
Is forever fading.
Counting constellations,
Knowing these stars are things long gone.
I’m supernovaed just for you.
Iridescent explosions,
And your eyes lock on.
A twinge in your finger,
An almost jump,
An almost connection.
I’m too bright,
Too hot.
You turn,
You can’t take it.
.
No matter how much you desire,
It loses meaning
In the face of time.
Laughing at your ignorance.
You, steadfast,
Foolish, it said.
And I suppose I’d agree
If I hadn’t gone.
.
How will I go?
Why did I go?
Where did I go?
